When a Doveweed Blooms
Director: Sarah Picard
Writer: Sarah Picard
Production Designer: Simone Jackson
My role on this film was Props Designer. The movie required me to make a Doveweed plant and roots that shoot out from the plant to attack its victims. I painted the pot, used twine for the roots, and foil with wire inside for the scary roots. The flowers are fake flowers that were spray painted and attached to the grass. I also pulled the foliage, science equipment, and other props seen in the background of the movie. I also worked with costumes to make the blood that is seen. Overall, I’m really proud of how the Doveweed came out and how we transformed LSU’s prop classroom into a mad scientist’s laboratory. Below is the film, BTS photos, stills, and process photos.
A witch brings a doveweed into the office of an irate plant doctor for a checkup. They both get more than they bargained for; the checkup goes awry, and the two discover they’re tethered together more than they knew.
