Rosita y Conchita
Rosita y Conchita is apart of LSU’s Lab Season for 2024 and toured local libraries around EBR. This show was co-designed between Ethan Rogers and I. Since it was touring, we had some unique problems to solve when designing it. My role in design was research and paint treatments, elevations, and color. For the land of dia de los muertos, I used darker purple-pinks to contrast the pinks of Conchita (who is alive). Each puppet had their own signature color parajo is green, Señor Costillas is blue and gatita is orange. The city is inspired by cities in Mexico and talavera pottery. This show was a joy to co-design and the collaboration was definitely a highlight. Below are some prelimary sketches, puppet mapping, and link to my research and some final images from the show.
